The Director General of the National Commission for Museum and Monument Professor Abba Tijani as assured that the Commission under his watch will continue to remain resolute in ensuring that the wholeness and Authenticity of Nigeria’s Common resources is Preserved for the benefit of future generations.
He disclosed this at the occasion of the 2023 International Day For Museum and Sites Day In Jos.
Nigeria’s rich cultural diversity was on display as the country joined the international community to celebrate the 2023 International Day for Museums, Monuments, and Sites.
This year’s event with the theme “heritage changes, meaning the changes that occur on heritage properties, has a special focus on the effects of climate change and global warming as disclosed by the Plateau State Curator Kamndu Ibrahim.

In his remark, the Director General of the Commission for Museum and Monuments, Professor Abba Tijani, explained that the Commission has put in place measures that will ensure it periodically reviews and updates in order to safeguard the nation’s vast cultural heritage collections for the benefit of future generations.
This year, Igbo is the culture of focus, and those who graced the event spoke on the need to preserve and protect culture.
Highlights of the occasion were the tour of Igbo monuments as well as the display of various dance parades by the Igbos and other cultural troupes.
