The Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria, ASCSN, has given the Federal Government until December 2023, to clear all discrepancies with about 5,000 civil servants delisted from the Integrated Payroll Personnel Information System, IPPIS, or be ready for industrial action.

ASCSN President, Tommy Etim, at a briefing in Abuja, also refuted allegations that workers’ unions are calling for the cancellation of interviews for the Permanent Secretary position.

The Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria had raised an alarm in September, that about 17,000 civil servants are set to lose their salaries over verification issues at the IPPIS office, accusing the government of clearing the names of political aides.

The alarm forced the Office Of The Head Of The Service Of The Federation to extend the period for online and physical verification, which brought thousands of workers to Kubwa, Abuja.

Weeks later, about 5,000 civil servants are still on the verge of being removed from the government’s payroll.

The Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria is also using the opportunity to refute an allegation levied against it about calls for the cancellation of interviews for the Permanent Secretary Position.

Meanwhile, a former president of the Trade Union Congress and ASCSN, Bobboi Kaigama, is advocating for more efficient public service, to avoid disgraceful scenes, like the images released during the verification exercise in Kubwa, Abuja, Nigeria.
