Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has approved new palliative measures for public servants in the state, aimed at cushioning the effects of rising fuel prices.
The intervention includes a one-day off-duty arrangement per week for eligible workers, alongside a N10,000 monthly transport allowance for a period of three months, beginning from April 2026.
According to a statement by the Head of Service, Kehinde Onasanya, the initiative is designed to ease transportation challenges and improve workers’ welfare amid the current economic realities.
He explained that essential workers, including medical personnel, teachers, security operatives, and top government officials, are exempted from the weekly off-duty arrangement but will benefit from the transport allowance.
The Head of Service added that Ministries, Departments and Agencies will determine suitable off-duty days for eligible staff to ensure uninterrupted service delivery.
He also commended the Governor for what he described as a timely and thoughtful intervention, urging workers to reciprocate with improved dedication and productivity.
