Fifty – four years after the death Major Isaac Adaka Boro activists in Nigeria’s Niger Delta region have continued to raise concerns about situations in the region.
Speaking to AIT, residents who took part in the Isaac Boro Day celebration in Yenagoa, accused leaders of the region of using the platform provided by Boro to advance their personal gain.

This year’s Isaac Boro Day Celebration in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital was characterised by closure of shops and other places of business.
But despite the atmosphere, some residents noted that the reason Isaac Boro launched his famous ’12 day Revolution’ is still far from achieved.
The non-constitution of a substantive board for the Niger Delta Development Commission, insecurity and the 2023 general elections dominated discourse.
While the yearly Isaac Boro day celebration has become a ritual for stocktaking on the progress made in the Niger Delta, people from the area have also been advised to like Boro and emulate his lifestyles of selfless sacrifice.
