Israel is asking for the full implementation of the UN Security Council Resolution 1701 to end the Israel-Hezbollah war.

Israel’s Ambassador to Nigeria, Michael Freeman, said this in Abuja, during the screening of the documentary “We will dance again” directed by Yariv Mozer, to commemorate one year anniversary of the October 7, massacre.

The Israeli envoy explained that the resolution intended to resolve the 2006 Lebanon war, sought full cessation of hostilities between Israel and Hezbollah.

Micheal Freeman also said that the withdrawal of Hezbollah and forces from Lebanon south of the Litani, disarmament of Hezbollah and armed groups, withdrawal of Israeli forces from Lebanon with no armed forces other than UN will be a huge step towards achieving peace in the region.

He said families have been torn apart, and an entire generation of Israelis bear the scars of the October 7th, 2023 attack which he described as “not just an attack on individuals or only an attack on Israel, but an assault on the values Israel holds dear such as freedom, peace, tolerance, and the sanctity of life” .

The envoy said Israel would continue to honour victims of the Nova festival attack in the country.
