Barely twenty four hours after a meeting with Resident doctors, who just suspended their strike, the Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, says government will invoke provisions of labour laws against health workers should they go ahead with their planned strike.
The Minister was speaking at the opening of a conciliatory meeting with the joint health sector unions,JOHESU, which issued notice for a nationwide industrial action, starting from sunday, September 13
The union leaders believe government as represented by the Labour and Employment Minister was using threat to blackmail their members.

They accused government of preferential treatment and say they are ready for the worst
The Heath Workers are among other things calling for immediate payment of shortfall in COVID-19 allowances.
They also want the government to answer to the clamour for the adjustment of Consolidated Health Salary Structure, CONHESS.
