The Commander of Operation Safe Haven and General Officer Commanding 3 Armoured Division Maxwell Cantonment Rukuba in Plateau State, Major-General Ibrahim Ali has reiterated the commitment to enhance civil-military relations through the use of sports which in turn will foster unity and harmonious living across its Joint Operation Area.
Ali made the assertion at the closing ceremony of the Chief of Defence Staff Peace and Unity Marathon and Football Competition which held at the Rwang Pam Township Stadium Jos, the Plateau State capital in North-Central Nigeria.

The games which brought participants from the 17 local government areas of Plateau State, parts of Bauchi and Kaduna States kicked off with the 15-kilometre marathon where competitors took to the streets of Jos and finished the race at the Rwang Pam Stadium.
The icing on the cake was the finals of the football competition between the neighbouring local governments of Barkin Ladi and Riyom in Plateau State which left special guests and spectators at the edge of their seats. The boys from Barkin Ladi scored two goals to emerge winners.
Special Guest of Honour and Chief of Defence Staff, General Lucky Irabo commended the Special Task Force for using sports as a tool for peace-building.
Other guests at the event called for the sustenance of the competition considering its numerous benefits.
At the end of the competition, winners and participants smiled home with mouth-watering prizes.
