Authorities of the University of Jos on Sunday suspended ongoing examinations as tensions in the tin city rise following sectarian killings.
The area where the university is located is a security flashpoint. Though no official explanation was given for the suspension of the examinations, sources say it is to avoid the violence from flowing into the campus.
Jos North Local Government Area, the hotbed of the crisis remains under lockdown as a 24 hours curfew was imposed on Sunday morning.

Efforts by AIT to speak to security agencies have not yielded fruits even as there are unconfirmed reports of additional killings on Sunday.
The Plateau State Government had earlier imposed a dusk-to-dawn curfew on the Jos North, Jos South, and Bassa Local Government Areas. The 6 pm to 6 am curfew now applies only to Jos South and Bassa LGAs.
About 23 travelers were macheted to death on Sunday, putting Plateau state under tension.
