The Kogi State High Court sitting in Lokoja has nullified the impeachment of Simon Achuba as State Deputy Governor on October 18, 2020 by members of the Kogi State House of Assembly.
The court in its ruling describes the impeachment as unconstitutional and illegal.

It also held that Achuba remained the Deputy Governor of the State until January 27, 2020 when Governor Yahaya Bello was inaugurated for a second term in office.
It will be recalled that the Governor’s former Chief of Staff, Edward Onoja was nominated and sworn-in as the new Deputy Governor after the purported impeachment of Achuba.
Onoja was eventually nominated as running mate to Governor Bello and with victory at the November 16, 2019 governorship election he was sworn-in as Deputy Governor for the Governor’s second term
