The National Examinations Council, NECO, has released the results of the 2026 Senior School Certificate Examination, SSCE Internal, with 1,162,118 out of the 1,371,992 candidates who sat for the examination, representing 84.70 per cent, scoring five credits and above, irrespective of English Language and Mathematics.
The Registrar and Chief Executive Officer of NECO, Professor Dantani Wushishi, while releasing the results, added that examination malpractice decreased by 64.74 per cent, with 1,406 candidates involved, compared with 3,878 in 2025.
The results were released 63 days after the examination concluded across Nigeria and six foreign countries: Benin Republic, Equatorial Guinea, Niger Republic, Côte d’Ivoire, Togo and Saudi Arabia.
According to the NECO Registrar and Chief Executive Officer, Professor Dantani Wushishi, out of the 1,378,048 candidates who registered, 1,371,992 sat for the examination, with 58.67 per cent obtaining five credits and above, including English Language and Mathematics.
Wushishi also added that the Council’s efforts to fight examination malpractice have continued to yield positive results, with the number of candidates involved declining from 3,878 in 2025 to 1,406 in 2026.
NECO therefore says it remains steadfast in its mission.
