The Police say they have repelled a terrorist attack on Barawa village in Batagarawa Local Government Area of Katsina State, North-West Nigeria in collaboration with the Nigerian Army.
In a statement by the Police spokesperson, Superintendent Gambo Isah, the incident occurred on Sunday at about 7:30 pm when a distress call was received from the community.
He added that a combined team of Police and military were mobilised to the area where they engaged the hoodlums in a fierce gun duel and successfully repelled them.
Isah further said, due to the operational strategy and gallantry displayed by the combined team, the terrorists abandoned their heinous mission and fled from the scene.
The police spokesperson added that, in the course of scanning the scene, five operational motorcycles of the terrorists were recovered and burnt by the team.

Subsequently, he said another of the terrorists’ motorcycles were recovered by the Divisional Police Officer of Batagarawa abandoned in Barawa Forest.
Isah said, many of the terrorists escaped the scene with gunshot wounds and urged members of the community to report to the nearest security formation, any person found with a suspicious injury.
Meanwhile, the Katsina State Commissioner of Police, Idris Dabban, has commended and appreciated the efforts of the personnel at repelling the terrorists, urging members of the public to continue to cooperate with security agencies, in the ongoing onslaught against terrorism in the state.
