Two non-teaching staff unions in Nigerian public universities are set to begin nationwide strike on Monday, March 18, 2024.
The two unions are the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities, SSANU and the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions, NASU.
The decision to down tools follows the failure of the Federal Government to pay the four months withheld salaries of SSANU and NASU members as a result of their prolonged strike in 2020.

At a briefing in Abuja on Monday, SSANU President, Ibrahim Haruna said it is disheartening that government approved and paid members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, who had observed more months on strike.
The National Executive Councils of SSANU and NASU had separately issued a seven-day strike notice to the Federal Government, which expired on Monday March 11, 2024.
