The clarification followed social Media reports alleging that five pupils died during the event.

Dr. Njoku made the statement on Thursday in Benin while addressing Journalists on the incident.

According to her, the hospital received an emergency call and responded swiftly as some of the affected children were evacuated to the Edo Specialist Hospital by ambulance for urgent medical attention.

She explained that some of the children were placed on the floor at the hospital to enable medical personnel carry out effective resuscitation procedures on those who needed immediate care.

Also speaking on the incident, the Coordinator, Office of the First Lady of Edo State, Edesili Okpebholo Anani, said she visited the hospital on a fact-finding mission following the unfortunate development during the Children’s Day celebration.
