Kaduna IGR Trends Towards ₦120bn Annually As Monthly Collections Exceed ₦10bn

Kaduna State says improved tax administration and public trust have helped push its internally generated revenue towards 120 billion naira annually.

Governor Uba Sani stated this at the 160th Joint Revenue Board meeting in Kaduna.

Between 2015 and 2023, Kaduna State’s highest annual revenue collection was about 59 billion naira, recorded in 2022.

The Kaduna State Internal Revenue Service says much of the increase at the time came from budgetary recoveries, government property sales and other one-off sources, rather than organic growth in the tax base.

Speaking at the 160th Joint Revenue Board meeting, the Executive Chairman of KADIRS, Jerry Adams, said the introduction of the Pay Kaduna portal and Project CRAFT had helped to centralise revenue payments, reduce leakages and improve transparency.

He noted that current collections are now trending towards 120 billion naira annually, with monthly collections exceeding 10 billion naira.

Addressing the occasion, Governor Uba Sani said the objective is not simply to collect more revenue, but to build public confidence in the tax system.

The Joint Revenue Board meeting is focused on assessing Nigeria’s tax reforms and addressing challenges affecting revenue mobilisation.

Stakeholders called for stronger collaboration among federal and state revenue authorities, improved data sharing and a tax system that is fair, transparent and easier for citizens and businesses to comply with.
