KADUNA

The Kaduna State Independent Electoral Commission, KAD-SIECOM, has again postponed the state’s local government polls till 4th September.

KAD-SIECOM Chairman, Saratu Dikko who announced the new date, said the postponement was due to the late arrival of batteries for the Electronic Voting Machines.

Six thousand Electronic Voting Machines, EVMs have been configured and ready to be deployed for the Kaduna Local Government Election.

It is the third time in a row that the Kaduna State Local Government Polls will be postponed.

Eighteen political parties had registered, but only eleven have fielded candidates for the polls.

Apart from this, the commission said, it also needed to train over 16,000 of its adhoc staff on the use of the EVM.

Some of the stakeholders
commended the improvement of the EVM, but hoped that the commission will stick to the new date for the election.

The KAD-SIECOM said, results of the election will be transmitted electronically, but cautioned politicians against practices that may jeopardize the outcome of the election.
