Kaduna State Government has introduced an electric vehicle loan scheme for civil servants in the state.

The initiative aims to provide affordable and eco-friendly transportation options, positioning Kaduna as a leader in green energy adoption.

At least 10,000 electric motorcycles will be distributed, with the initiative expected to create over 2,000 jobs in assembling, maintenance and technical support.

The initiative is a partnership between Kaduna State Government, the Nigerian Labour Congress and other entities.

Unveiling the scheme, Governor Uba Sani, represented by his Deputy, Hadiza Balarabe, highlighted its potential to reduce transportation costs for government workers and improve access to reliable means of transportation.

Under the program, civil servants can obtain subsidized loans for electric motorcycles and tricycles.

Officials say Kaduna is the first state to roll out a large-scale electric mobility project for its workforce.
