The Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, has inaugurated two Judicial Commissions of Inquiry to investigate cases of misappropriation of public property, political violence and missing persons in the State between 2015 to 2023.

ait.live recalls that during Abba Yusuf’s inaugural speech as Governor of Kano State on May 29, 2023, he had pledged to unravel and prosecute those behind cases of political violence recorded in the State before and during the 2015, 2019 and 2023 general elections.
Also, the Governor is said to believe that there was wrongful allocation of the State’s properties by the immediate past administration, necessitating the inauguration of the two Commissions of Inquiries.

The Governor who read out the Terms of Reference (ToR) to the Commission members, also charged them to be fair, just and upright
While the Commission of Inquiry under the Chairmanship of Justice Zuwaira Yusuf will look into cases of political violence and missing persons from 2015-2023, the Justice Faruk Lawan led Commission has the mandate of probing into cases of misappropriation of public assets.
The two Commissions which have three months to submit their separate reports, have members drawn from the judiciary, civil society organizations, religious bodies, media and the general public.
