More than 2,000 healthcare professionals have been recruitment into the Kano State Civil Service, as the state government moves to address manpower shortages across its health facilities.
Governor Abba Yusuf, while presenting the appointment letters to the new recruits, charged them to put patients first and uphold professionalism and compassion in the discharge of their duties.
For these newly recruited health professionals, the appointments mark the beginning of a new responsibility — to serve communities where the demand for healthcare continues to grow daily.
The recruitment comes against the backdrop of persistent manpower challenges in Nigeria’s health sector, including the migration of medical professionals in search of opportunities abroad.
According to the Commissioner for Health, the government conducted an assessment to identify areas requiring additional personnel before embarking on the recruitment exercise.

He said the process was rigorous, given the large number of applications received.
But beyond the appointment letters, the Governor wants the new health workers to see their roles as a responsibility to the people they have been employed to serve.
The Governor urged them to uphold the ethics of their respective professions, show compassion to patients and remain committed to saving lives.
And as these new health professionals begin their careers in the Kano State Civil Service, the expectation is that the additional manpower will translate into more accessible and effective healthcare delivery across the state.
