Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, says his administration has recorded significant progress in improving the living standards of rural communities through investments aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs.
Speaking at the Kano State rural sustainability and development summit, the Governor said collaboration with development partners remains essential to accelerating sustainable community development.
Meeting the development needs of Kano State’s growing population remains a major challenge, particularly in rural communities where demand for critical infrastructure and social services continues to rise.
At the summit where Governor Yusuf was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Umar Faruk Ibrahim, he noted that despite the challenges, the present administration has made notable strides in various sectors aimed at improving livelihoods, especially in rural areas.
The Governor also highlighted ongoing efforts to strengthen the education sector through the renovation and upgrading of schools in rural communities, alongside the provision of learning facilities to improve access to quality education.
The State Commissioner for Rural and Community Development, Abdulkadir Abdulsalam, called for stronger collaboration among government institutions, development partners and the private sector.
The summit, which featured panel discussions on its opening day, continues with engagements involving global development partners, donor agencies, and other critical stakeholders, focusing on advancing sustainable community development in Kano State.
