The crisis rocking the People’s Democratic Party PDP in Kano state is still lingering as a federal high court sitting in the state has fixed December 9th for ruling on a joinder application in a suit challenging the legitimacy of the party’s congresses held in June.
Salisu Sani Yanta and Nura Lamido have sought to be joined in the suit filed by Ali Baffa Ali and Aminu Sani Wali, all members of the PDP.
The plaintiffs have joined PDP, Inspector General of police and Independent National Electoral Commission INEC as defendants.
In a motion dated 11/11/2020, counsel for the applicants’, A.T Ayuba urges the court to enlist Salisu Sani Yanta and Nura Lamido as 4th and 5th plaintiffs in the matter. The plaintiff’s counsel A Y Binani did not object to the application.

However counsel for the PDP Maude Abdul Karim asked the court to dismiss the joinder application since the court had earlier fixed date for ruling and or judgment on their Preliminary Objection adding that the applicants have not shown how the judgment in the matter will affect them.
Justice Lewis Allagoa averred that it is dangerous to deny parties seeking to join suit,saying in law and in the interest of justice fair hearing is sacrosanct as contained in section 36 of the constitution.
The trial judge adjourned to December 9th for a ruling on the application.
