Kano State Government has introduced a specialized Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU) as part of renewed efforts to tackle violent crimes and enhance public safety in the state.
Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Bakori, described the initiative as a major milestone in the command’s commitment to building safer and more secure communities.
He said the unit, established on April 24, 2026, was in line with directives from the leadership of the Nigeria Police Force to strengthen intelligence-led policing and improve operational efficiency.
Bakori explained that the VCRU is a specialized, intelligence-driven tactical unit created to decisively address cases of armed robbery, kidnapping, banditry and other violent crimes that threaten lives, property and economic activities across the state.
