Residents of Sabon Geri and Jaba communities in Kano State say they are beginning to feel the impact of infrastructure development under Governor Abba Yusuf, with appeals for more.

Correspondent Enemona Ocheme reports that the ongoing construction and rehabilitation of access roads in the area are giving residents renewed hope that better days are ahead for them.

For many years, the communities—Sabon Gari and Jaba, largely populated by Christian non-indigenes—struggled with poor and dilapidated roads. But recent government interventions are gradually changing that narrative.

Recently, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf flagged off the construction of the Zungeru Road in Sabon Gari.

The road serves as a strategic link connecting the area to the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport, the Dawanau International Grains Market, and neighboring Katsina State.

Residents recall how difficult daily life used to be

Today, however, the story is beginning to change. Excited residents commend the state government for the ongoing work along the Jaba–Shagon Tara–Kumantaka–Geyawa stretch.

The road, once notorious for its dilapidated condition, is now receiving long-awaited attention from the government.

While expressing appreciation for the progress made so far, residents say more still needs to be done.
