Worried by the high cost of living occasioned by inflation of consumer goods almost on a daily basis, Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has appealed to the business community in the State to show compassion towards the suffering masses.
The Governor made the appeal during an interactive session with about thirty major business and market groups within the State, with the aim of finding solutions to the escalating prices of basic commodities.
It is on record that the largest grains market which supplies the major food commodities in Africa is located in Nigeria’s commercial city of Kano in the North west region, as well as several manufacturing industries in the State.
Ironically, the State still witnesses serious hunger which is being attributed to the high cost of consumer goods, hence, this meeting called by Governor Abba Yusuf with the business community.
