Kano State records frightening 6,466 Cholera cases in 4 months

Kano State Government says it has recorded more than Six thousand cases of Cholera, since the outbreak of the disease in March, with 224 deaths recorded, across all the health facilities in the state.

The Director of Public Health and Disease Control at the state’s health ministry, Dr Ashiru Rajab, disclosed this in an interview with ait.live.

The outbreak of cholera in the state has further overstretched facilities at government-owned hospitals with 5,970 patients successfully treated and discharged.

As the state continues to grapple with the disease, the Director of Public Health and Disease Control, Ashiru Rajab, called on the people to wash their vegetables and fruits with salt, and to also maintain good hygiene, and distance their utensils from flies.

He also cautioned against open defecation that is common in the state.

With Fagge and Sumaila Local Government Area being worst hit by the cholera outbreak, the health ministry said that, the state government is doing its best to prevent further spread of the disease.
