Governor Aminu Masari of Katsina State has directed all security agencies in the state to immediately clamp down on the activities of miscreants popularly called ‘Kauraye’ with a coordinated security operation targeted at checkmating the menace and restoring sanity, peace and security in the State.

This, according to Masari is as a result of the recent rise in the activities of miscreants and other criminal elements within Katsina metropolis and its environs which is having negative consequences on socio economic and political activities of the state.

The clamp down on miscreants is also coming weeks after the government banned the use of political thugs by politicians and other thuggery related activities in the state ahead of the 2023 general elections.

The Governor who handed down the directive through his special adviser on security matters, Ibrahim Katsina added that a coordinated security operation targeted at checkmating the menace and restoring sanity, peace and security in the State should commence immediately.

Katsina further added that to ensure total success of the exercise, the traditional institution in the state has also been mandated to mobilize their communities, religious and other community leaders to support the efforts, and cooperate with security agencies towards restoring peace and security in the communities.

According to him, they are to take the census of all identified miscreants with their parents names, addresses and locations and send same details to all the security agencies in the state for immediate action.

While warning the miscreants to give peace a chance especially with the 2023 general elections around the corner, katsina stressed that it is not going to be business as usual hence, they should relocate from the state in peace or leave in pieces.
