Katsina State Government has inaugurated a white paper drafting committee to address the crisis rocking the Umaru Musa Yar’Adua University, UMYU in the state.
Governor Aminu Masari speaking shortly before inaugurating the committee at the Government house Katsina said government was aware and conversant with all the crisis bedeviling the institution and ready to resolve them.
Masari noted that attempts by the governing board of the institution to resolve some of the issues have failed.
He said government decided to constitute the committee to look at the visitation panel’s report, it’s recommendations, observations and suggestions with a view to implementing them.

According to the Governor, “It is very important as we are determined to take all necessary actions to restore the honour and dignity of the institution, it’s certificate and students.”
Masari further noted that, “We cannot afford the university,UMYU, to fall into the trap of continuous crisis that are likely and definitely interfere with its academic performances and quality of education that it is suppose to give”.
The Governor therefore charged the committee to make sure that they are ready with the report within the stipulated time to give government the opportunity to take decision before the end of the year.
Chairman of the committee and Special Adviser on Human Capital Development, Lawal Aliyu assured that the committee will work diligently and creditably to conclude it’s assignment within the time frame.
He thanked the Governor for giving them the opportunity to serve the state in it’s quest to advance education at all levels.
