Police in Katsina say they have arrested a 20-year-old Jume Bello, for allegedly raping his master’s wife and robbing other married women in Musawa Local Government Area of the State.

In a statement by the spokesman of the police, Superintendent Gambo Isah, Bello was arrested on May 31, when three women, all from Jikamshi Village in Musawa Local Government Area, reported at Musawa Division, that at different times, the 20-year-old Bello, criminally trespassed into their houses, attacked them with a knife and robbed them of their money, handset and forcefully had unlawful carnal knowledge of them.

The suspect confessed that one of the women was his master’s wife.

The 20-year-old said, he committed the crime when his master sent him on an errand to call a water vendor for his wife, and after that, in the evening, he came back and committed the act.

Bello also confessed to having collected her money, as well as that of the other 2 women.

He said, “I used a knife to scare them. I took one of them to the backyard, while the others were on their matrimonial bed.”

Similarly, the police image maker also said, the command has succeeded in arresting a 23-year-old Yahaya Muntari, who is alleged to be an armed robber and a motorcycle snatcher.

According to Isah, the suspect specializes in luring unsuspecting commercial motorcycle riders to lonely roads and strangling them, using motorcycle clutch cable wire, killing them and stealing their motorcycles.

He added that nemesis caught up with the suspect when he was accosted by a police patrol team, attached to Anti-kauraye, along Batsari Road, behind the state-owned television station, where he lured a 22-year-old commercial motorcycle rider, Abdullahi Bello, and strangled him with a cable.

The police spokesman said, the victim was rescued by the timely intervention of the police, and was rushed to a General Hospital.

He further said, in the course of the investigation, the suspect confessed to having killed many of his victims through the same modus operandi, and mentioned the duo of 17-year-old Abubakar Musa and 25-year-old Zaharaddini, as members of his syndicate.

All suspects have been arrested and confessed to the commission of the offence, as the investigation is ongoing, to arrest other members of the syndicate.
