Kenyan Government says it is not true that it was involved in the arrest and subsequent extradition of the self-acclaimed leader of Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu by the authorities in Nigeria.

Kenyan High Commissioner to Nigeria, Wilfred Machage, made the refutal while addressing journalists on Friday in Abuja, the nation’s capital.

The envoy explained that the allegations are fictional, imaginary and deliberately concocted to fuel antagonistic feelings among people of a certain section of the Nigeria.

He challenged anyone with facts relating to the allegation against the Kenyan Government to come forward and present them.

He notes that while the Kenyan Government remains disturbed, dismayed and astonished by the unfortunate statement on the alleged arrest of Nnamdi Kanu, his home country is particularly appalled by the spurious, derogatory and libelous mention of the name of the President of Kenya, Uhuru Kenyatta on the matter as has been reported in one of the national dailies.

Meanwhile, in a statement issued by the British High Commission in Abuja, the UK Government also reaffirmed that Nnamdi Kanu was neither arrested in its country nor was he extradited from there.

The statement explains that the UK Government is currently in the process of seeking clarification from the Nigerian government about the circumstances of the arrest of Nnamdi Kanu who is also a British citizen.
