The Kogi State Government says it has continued its sensitization of residents living in flood-prone areas and it is ready to relocate displaced persons of into its flood hostel.
Commissioner for Environment, Victor Omofaye who spoke with ait.live in Lokoja said the Ministry in collaboration with relevant agencies began deploying the measures following warnings from federal agencies concerning possible flooding.
The devastation caused by flood in Kogi State in 2012 appears not to have been forgotten and this has guided the state government in making early preparations to prevent disaster this year.

Omofaye said, in collaboration with the State Emergency Management Agency, SEMA, camps have already been set up in parts of the state.
The presence of the River Niger in Kogi State has made the state vulnerable to flood disasters every year, but the state government appears to be prepared to handle the situation, especially ensuring that residents are not homeless.
