The peoples Democratic Party Governorship candidate, Dino Melaye has expressed concern over the long neglect of the oldest local govt in Kogi state, Bassa, pledging to prioritize free education and construction of accessible roads in the local government area if elected.
The main opposition party standard bearer made the pledge to the people of Bassa when he took his campaign train to the eastern part of the state.
Bassa is said to be the oldest local government in Kogi state, existing for over 40 years with about 200,000 people living in the eastern local government of the state while over 150,000 registered voters out of the independent national electoral commission’s over 1.9 million were captured.

Earlier, Melaye visited the paramount ruler of Bassa kingdom, his royal highness, William Jimba Keke who sent him forth with prayers ahead of Saturday’s governorship poll.
In Lokoja, the PDP governorship candidate met with women and youths to assure them that all campaign promises made will be fulfilled if given the chance to lead the state through the electoral boxes.
Kogi State will join its counterparts, Imo and Bayelsa, to the polls on Saturday, November 11 2023, as INEC is deploying 46,084 staff for the elections, while the Nigerian police force said 40,000 of its personnel will be mobilized to give security coverage for the governorship election in the state.
