Kogi Road Mishap: 16 Persons Killed Along Okene-Osara-Lokoja Highway

Sixteen people have been confirmed dead in a ghastly motor accident along the Okene-Osara-Lokoja road in Kogi State.

The Kogi State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Lawal Fagge, who confirmed the accident which occurred in the early hours of Friday when an 18-seater bus plunged off a bridge in Osara, in a telephone interview, said two passengers survived with severe injuries.

Fagge, who attributed the crash to over-speeding, noted that officers from the Zariagi unit promptly responded, rescued the survivors, and rushed them to a nearby hospital.

According to him, the bodies of the 16 deceased persons have been deposited at a morgue in Lokoja.
