Kogi state assembly passes 2021 appropriation bill into law

The Kogi state house of assembly has passed into law the 2021 appropriation bill of over one hundred and thirty billion naira, after its final reading and clause to clause consideration.

Speaker of the assembly, Matthew Kolawole charged the executive to consolidate on the gains made in key areas, especially security. 

A budget estimate of one hundred and thirty point five billion naira tagged ‘’budget of accelerated recovery’’ was presented to the state house of assembly by Governor Yahaya Bello on December 2, 2020.

After the consideration of the budget by the house committee on appropriation at the plenary, the Speaker, Matthew Kolawola gave a summary of the revenue and expenditure of the proposal.

The lawmakers called on the executive to ensure that budgetary allocations to security and infrastructure are given adequate attention.

The thematic areas of the budget shows that education, infrastructure and human development have over twenty-one billion naira while funding governance has the highest with over twenty-three billion naira for the year 2021.
