The Kogi State Governor, Yamaha Bello, says his administration is making more efforts at ensuring women and youths are strategically included at all levels of the state’s governance and political structure.
Governor Bello, who said this in Lokoja at a stakeholders meeting of the state chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, noted that the decision of the party was to reward committed women in his administration with party tickets to contest the December 12 local government election.
The state APC is fielding women as Vice Chairmanship candidates in all the 21 local government councils.
Also, the APC is fielding three women counsellor candidates in each local government.
Governor Bello hinted that the APC may have a woman as Speaker of the State Assembly. This is if the party wins majority seats in the next House of Assembly elections, which is still three years away.
Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Mathew Kolawola, said the party’s move is to reward the active participation of women in grassroot politics.
