No fewer than 400 women and persons living with disabilities have been empowered with over N22 million by the Kogi State Government to enable them start and grow small businesses.

Governor Yahaya Bello who said the gesture was in commemoration of the 31st anniversary of the creation of the State, said women remain pivotal to the success of his administration.

For the over 30 years that Kogi State existed from creation on August 27, 1991, these women believe that no Governor has affected their lives positively like Yahaya Bello has since his assumption of office in 2016.

Represented by the State First Lady, Rashida Bello, the Governor told the women that the empowerment fund is a demonstration of how important women are to his administration.

Head of Civil Service of Kogi State, Hanna Odiyo believes that Yahaya Bello’s benevolence for women will have positive multiplier effects on the state’s economy.

Over 445 women and persons living with disabilities, drawn from the 21 local government areas of Kogi State, went home with the sum of N50,000 each and gifts of clothing in the spirit of the celebration of the state’s anniversary.
