The Kogi State Police Command says it has recorded another major breakthrough in its sustained efforts aimed at combating criminal activities and illicit drug trafficking across the State.
This follows the interception of a vehicle laden with suspected narcotics and the arrest of two suspects in the Kabba axis.
According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP SALIU OYIZA AFUSAT, operatives attached to a tactical team intercepted a Honda Pilot vehicle during a routine operation at a strategic location on May 9th, 2026.
The statement explained that a preliminary assessment of the vehicle revealed approximately Three Hundred and Forty-Two (342) wraps of dry leaves suspected to be Indian hemp.
It also noted that during the operation, an attempt was made to influence the operatives to compromise the process through an offer of Five Million Naira (₦5,000,000) in cash, a bribe which was strictly resisted in line with established professional standards and operational procedures.
ASP SALIU OYIZA AFUSAT said the two suspects were promptly arrested, while the vehicle and exhibits were secured and transferred to the Area Command Headquarters, Kabba, for further investigation.
The Commissioner of Police, Kogi State Command, CP Naziru Bello Kankarofi, has since commended the operatives for their vigilance and high sense of integrity, reaffirming the Command’s commitment to ensuring the safety of lives and property.
The Kogi State Police Command assures the public of its unwavering stance against criminality and urges citizens to continue supporting security agencies with timely information to aid ongoing operations against criminal elements.
