President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to the resumption and completion of oil exploration activities at the Kolmani oil field, located along the Bauchi-Gombe border
The Chairman of the Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission, RMFAC, Mohammed Bello, stated this during the commission’s inspection visit to the Kolmani oil field in Bauchi State.
The Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation, and Fiscal Commission, led by its Chairman, Mohammed Bello, was in Bauchi to inspect some revenue-generating agencies, with particular focus on the oil and gas sector.
At the Kolmani oil exploration field, situated between communities in Bauchi and Gombe States, the RMFAC Chairman said the visit was aimed at assessing the progress of the project and identifying the challenges affecting its resumption.
Mohammed Bello said the commission would submit its findings to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and recommend the immediate resumption of the oil exploration project, stressing that its completion would enable the people of Bauchi and Gombe States to maximise the economic benefits of the resource.
While inspecting the Buying Centre and the Oil and Gas Academy in Alkaleri, the RMFAC Chairman commended Governor Bala Mohammed for establishing the academy.
He said the institution would provide the manpower needed to support oil and gas exploration activities and enhance the benefits to host communities.
The Bauchi State Commissioner for Natural Resources Development, Maiwada Bello, appreciated the commission for the visit, saying it had renewed the hope of the host communities and the state government for the actualisation of the long-awaited oil exploration project.
He said the resumption of activities at the Kolmani oil field would contribute significantly to sustainable economic growth and development of the country.
It would be recalled that oil exploration activities at the Kolmani oil field were suspended about two years ago, prompting the Bauchi State Government to appeal to the Federal Government for the resumption and timely completion of the project.
