The Governor of Kwara State, AbdulRahman AbdulRasaq, has pledged to implement reforms to Ease Business Climate in the state.
The Governor noted that the current narrative about the state ranking lowest in the North-Central region is unacceptable.
Abdulrasaq was represented by his Deputy, Kayode Alabi, at the North Central Regional Engagement on Ease of Doing Business organized by the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC) and the state government on Wednesday.
He noted that various concrete steps are already being taken to make business transactions a lot easier and faster to attract investors.
Governor AbdulRasaq expressed dismay at the World Bank report in 2018 which ranked Kwara 30th out 37 states including the Federal Capital Territory, FCT and the lowest in the North-Central.
However, the Special Adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari on Ease of Doing Business, Jumoke Oduwole, emphasized that a lot has been done within the last three years to ease the business environment in Nigeria with the country moving many inches up the ladder in global ranking.
Oduwole charged the North-Central zone, which she refers to as the vital corridor in Nigeria to break some barriers against SMEs by implementing reforms already recommended by the PEBEC, which has carried out over 140 reforms.
