Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has approved the constitution of a seven-member committee to engage the Woro community on the humanitarian intervention earlier announced by the state government.

The move is aimed at providing immediate relief and coordinating rebuilding efforts in the community following the recent deadly attack.

In a statement released on Friday, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Rafiu Ajakaye, said the committee will be chaired by Hon. Ahmed Kiwozi, a former lawmaker representing Kaiama Local Government Area.

Other members of the committee include the Vice Chairman of Kaiama Local Government, Aisha Abubakar Sadiq; Alhaji Abubakar Mora; the Village Head of Woro, Alhaji Umar Bio Saliu; as well as representatives of the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) and the Kwara State Social Investment Programme (KWASSIP).

The committee also has a female representative from the Office of the Secretary to the State Government.
According to the statement, the committee has a four-week mandate to interface with community leaders, assess the needs of survivors, coordinate reconstruction of damaged homes, and address other critical humanitarian concerns.

Armed bandits invaded Woro community in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State on Tuesday evening, killing over 70 residents, destroying homes and properties, and abducting several others.
