The Kwara State Government has announced the total lockdown of the ancient town of Offa following the confirmation of 2 Coronavirus cases in the area.
The lockdown directive was announced on Tuesday by the Chairman State Technical Committee on COVID-19, Kayode Alabi who is also the Deputy Governor of the State.
Alabi noted that the directive is pursuant to the Kwara State Infectious Diseases (Emergency Prevention) Regulation 2020.
According to him, the lockdown means total restriction on every vehicular movement into or out of Offa with effect from 6pm on Wednesday.
The exemptions to the directive are those contained in the recent nationwide broadcast by President Muhammadu Buhari which granted access to vehicles transporting foodstuffs, poultry and pharmaceutical products.
Any other movement, private or commercial is banned for the next 14 days or until such a time the government reviews the lockdown.
