The Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez has given the green light for La Liga to resume from its Coronavirus lockdown on June 8.
The approval came as the Committee chaired by the La Liga President, Javier Tebas planned for resumption of the league on Friday, June 12.
While expressing satisfaction with government’s decision, the La Liga Committee says it will no longer be business as usual, as all the health protocols will be observed and respected by players, officials, security operatives, health personnel and the media.
More than 2 months after the season in Spain was suspended due to the Covid-19 pandemic, there have been training in small groups prior to the restart of the league.
Barcelona sit top of the table with 2 points ahead of rival’s, Real Madrid.
Under the Laliga compressed calendar, all clubs have 11 games left to the end of the season in July and matches will be played both at midweek and weekends behind closed doors.
Only 197 people will be allowed to attend each match and players will be tested for Coronavirus a day before each match while temperatures will be taken before entering the stadium.
