Nigeria’s opposition Labour Party has adopted the indirect primary election for aspirants contesting for the party’s ticket to contest the 2024 governorship election in Edo state, wher ward and local government congresses will hold.
The party gave the approval after its National Working Committee (NWC) meeting in Abuja.
In a statement signed by the national publicity secretary, Obiora Ifoh, the NWC approved February 14 for the screening of aspirants and February 22 for primary election.
He said the NWC fixed February 23 to resolve disputes or appeals that may arise from the primaries and approved the sale of forms to all interested aspirants from the state who are Nigerians and indigenes or residents in the state, irrespective of the zone they are from January 25 and February 11, 2024 was approved for the commencement of the sale and submission of Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms.
The party exempted female aspirants from paying for Expression of Interest Forms only.
The NWC fixed Expression of Interest Forms at Five Million Naira (N5,000.000.00) and Nomination Forms at Twenty Five Million Naira (N25,000.000.00).
