The National leadership of the labour party has called for immediate and unconditional release of its senatorial candidate in Ebonyi state, Linus Okorie.
Okorie was said to have been kidnapped on Sunday while driving to his house in Ebonyi state.
In a statement, the national chairman of the party, Julius Abure, said the attack is viewed by the party as a furtherance of the determination of what he called “political hirelings” to frustrate the progressive incursion of the party across the country, particularly in the South East.

The national chairman called on the state governor, Dave Umahi and the hierarchy of the security agencies particularly, the Inspector General of Police and the Commissioner of Police in the State to immediately effect the release of its senatorial candidate, Linus Okorie.
Abure said the incessant attacks and kidnapping of innocent Nigerians particularly politicians posed serious threat to nation’s democracy.
The alleged abduction of the labour Party’s senatorial candidate in Ebonyi state came after one year and one month since the governorship candidate of the party in Anambra state during the 2021 election, Obiora Agbasinalo got missing.
Agbasinalo was declared missing during a campaign trip on September 2021, on their way to Azia in Ihiala local government Area from Ezinifite in Nnewi South Local government Area of Anambra state.
