Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has confirmed that the Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC purchased the Expression of Interest and nomination forms of N100 million for President Bola Tinubu to secure the party’s ticket for his re-election in 2027.

Sanwo-Olu said this was done due to their belief in the renewed hope reforms of the President Tinubu administration.

He was speaking as the Lagos State Governor’s Advisory Council, GAC, which is the powerful political body in the State, adopted his Deputy, Obafemi Hamzat, as its consensus Governorship aspirant for the 2027 general election.

At least 28 GAC members, who also constitute the senior political caucus of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, in the state said they had tasked themselves to contribute money to purchase the nomination form of N50 million for Hamzat.

Speaking with newsmen after almost two hours of meeting behind closed-doors, GAC’s Chairman, Tajudeen Olusi, expressed confidence that the Deputy Governor would build on the successes of his predecessors to make Lagos State greater.

He however said although the GAC had adopted Hamzat as its consensus Governorship aspirant in Lagos State based on the APC constitution, free primaries will be held for all aspirants for the party’s Governorship ticket.
