The Nigerian government, Thursday , reopened the Lagos Third Mainland bridge after months of comprehensive rehabilitation works which has seen the bridge shut down intermittedly since November, 2023.
Federal Comptroller of Works, Olukorede Kesha, while reopening the bridge said the repairs is about 95% completed and would be commissioned by President Bola Tinubu in May this year.
Minister of Works, David Umahi during his last visit on the 28th of March, 2024 promised that the bridge would be reopened in seven days.

The Federal government on the eighth of November, 2023, flagged off the rehabilitation works which focused on a complete replacement of the asphalt of the bridge deck, the deck painting, replacement of missing gadgets on the bridge and an installation of CCTV.
The bridge which has been closed at intervals, majorly at the section that allows for traffic flow from Iyana Oworonshoki inward to Lagos Island and its reopening will be a major relief for motorists and commuters from the island to the mainland of Nigeria’s commercial capital
