The Kano State Ministry of Health has confirmed an outbreak of Lassa Fever in the state.
Commissioner for Health, Dr. Aminu Tsanyawa, told reporters that the death of a 28-year-old pregnant woman on January 1 posed more risks to the state and more than 292 people who had contact are being followed as a proactive measure.

The Commissioner hinted that a reference laboratory in Abuja had confirmed three Lassa Fever cases involving two medical doctors and a nurse at the Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital.

Dr. Tsanyawa said the State Isolation Centre at Yar Gaya has been reactivated in addition to several other preventive measures.
60 cases of Lassa Fever have been recorded in eight states across Nigeria.
