Osun State Government has confirmed two cases of Lassa fever at the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital, Ile-Ife and Westley Guild Hospital, Ilesa.
Addressing reporters in Osogbo, the State Commissioner for Health, Rafiu Isamotu, said the two persons are responding to treatment.
Cases of Lassa fever outbreak have been reported in 16 states of the federation in the past few weeks.
Isamotu said that the proactive measures have been put in place to curtail its spread.

He, however, said that necessary drugs have been sent to the hospitals where the cases were reported.
The Health Commissioner also disclosed that campaigns on preventive measures against the disease have been taken to public places like mosques, churches, and markets.
According to him, health care workers especially those at the primary health care centres have been adequately sensitized.
On January 22, Kano State Ministry of Health confirmed an outbreak of Lassa Fever in the state.

Commissioner for Health in the state, Dr. Aminu Tsanyawa, told reporters that the death of a 28-year-old pregnant woman on January 1 posed more risks to the state and more than 292 people who had contact are being followed as a proactive measure.
While in Delta state, two cases of Lassa fever was recorded which involved a middle-aged single mother now dead and a youth corps member who is currently receiving treatment at Irua Specialist Hospital in Edo State, South-South Nigeria.
In Bauchi State, at least three confirmed cases of Lassa Fever was reported in, while 15 other suspected cases are under investigation.
The Chairman of the State Primary Health Care Development Agency, Dr. Rilwanu Muhammad, disclosed this while briefing reporters in the state capital.

He said that the major challenge being faced by the Agency is the rumour that Lassa Fever has claimed many lives in the state.
Likewise in Ondo State, at least 84 new cases of Lassa Fever was reported.
The State Epidemiologist, Steven Fagbemi, made this known during a meeting with Governor Rotimi Akeredolu and Local Government Chairmen from Ondo North and Central Senatorial Districts.
Fagbemi said 16 of the patients have died from the disease since their undetected cases reached advanced stage before they were brought to the hospital.
