President of the Senate and Presidential aspirant of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, Ahmad Lawan has promised to pursue a constitutional reform that will ensure “Devolution of Power” that will guarantee equitable distribution of resources among the various States in the country.
Lawan stated this moments after he faced the Presidential Screening panel of his ruling party on Tuesday ahead of presidential primaries next week.
The vexed issue of restructuring or devolution of power has been on the front burner for years in Nigeria with little success at amending the constitution to achieve it.
Lawan said he holds it dear to heart and will break the jinx if elected as Nigeria’s next president.
As part of his vision if elected as the next President, Lawan said he will work to fine tune the electoral process and establish a new culture of credible elections.
He said his administration will pursue an economic reform that will turn around Nigeria’s situation and enhance the fortunes of citizens in no time.
On security, Lawan said there will be no hiding place for terrorists, bandits and other criminal elements that have held the country down.
Lawan currently represents Yobe North in the Senate.

He arrived National Assembly in 2003 and has served in many capacities including Chairman Committee on Agriculture, Education and Public Accounts.
Before his election as President of the Senate, the Yobe State born lawmaker served as Senate leader in the 8th Senate, a position shortlived in the heat of fierce power tussle at that time.
Lawan is upbeat about clinching the sole ticket of the All Progressives Congress, APC, confident that his wealth of experience in the National Assembly is enough for him to take charge as Nigeria’s next President.
Lawan was a late entrant in the presidential race among other aspirants of APC.
He is currently perceived to be one of President Muhammadu Buhari “preferred successors” and the man who can square up with the Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar especially in the North of the country.
