The People’s Democratic Party Elders’ Forum in Taraba State says it is confident that the committee set up to address the party’s leadership crisis will help the party emerge stronger, and foster unity among all members.

The elders forum is also confident that the internal crisis in the party will not affect the party’s chances of clinching victory in the anticipated house of representatives rerun election for Zing/Yorro/Jalingo Federal Constituency.

The party stalwarts spoke to the press after a meeting with the State Governor Agbu Kefas at the Government House in Jalingo.

The People’s Democratic Party PDP in Taraba State has for some months now been embroiled in leadership crisis, with litigations and counter litigations from the Inuwa Bakari and Abubakar Bawa factions of the party.

Leader of the party and Taraba State Governor Agbu Kefas waded into the crisis, setting up a committee led by Nigeria’s former Minister of Commerce Idris Waziri, to address the crisis, and recommend a lasting solution.

The committee was given a time frame of two weeks to present it’s report to the Governor, which was done.

Governor Agbu Kefas commended the Committee ‘s sacrifice to restore the party’s strength, adding that the party must be resilient in the face of turmoil.

He insisted that both camps involved in the leadership tussle must embrace dialogue.

The PDP’s Elders Forum in Taraba State says it is confident that the recommendations of the committee set up to address the leadership crisis, will resolve the issues at stake, and unite all members.

The forum says the internal crisis will not mar the party’s chances of clinching victory in the anticipated rerun election for Yorro/Zing/Jalingo Federal Constituency,  and the Local Government Councils election.

The Elders forum earlier had a closed door meeting with the State Governor Agbu Kefas over critical issues that relate to the Taraba PDP.
