League of Northern Democrats N50m To Support Borno Flood Victims

The sum of N50 million has been donated by the League of Northern Democrats, to support the Borno State Government’s ongoing efforts, to alleviate the suffering of the flood affected communities.

The League said in Maiduguri on Thursday that it is also standing ready to assist the Borno Government and other key stakeholders, in ensuring that more relief, reaches those in need, and that sustainable solutions are found, to prevent similar disaster in the future.

While handing over the cheque, the Chairman of the League, Senator Ibrahim Shekarau, commended Governor Zulum, for his leadership.

He said: “Your Excellency, we commend your tireless efforts in leading the state’s response to the disaster. Your swift and determined actions in the face of such adversity have been a source of hope and reassurance to the people of Borno.”

The group also paid tribute to the Shehu of Borno for his leadership and guidance, during the challenging time, stating that monarch’s role in providing moral and spiritual support has been invaluable, in offering comfort, and unity to the people, as they navigate the difficult period.

Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum appreciated the gesture of the League, and assured of judicious utilisation of the money.

The group also paid similar sympathy visit to the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital, being one of the most devastated by the flood.

ait.live reports that the League of Northern Democrats (LND), is a recently formed group of patriots, from all parts of North Nigeria, who are united to shape and influence Nigeria’s politics and power dynamics, for regional and national development.
