The Nigerian theatre arts industry has lost one of its members; legendary Yoruba actor and filmmaker Adedeji Aderemi known by the stage name “Olofa Ina”.
National President Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Practitioners Association Of Nigeria (TAMPAN) Bolaji Amusan popularly known as “Mr Latin” confirmed the incident to AIT.
Nollywood actor film producer Saidi Balogun had also taken to his Instagram to announce the death of Olofa Ina who died on Thursday, January 4, 2024.
Saidi wrote: “Goodnight legend Chief Deji Akinremi (Olofa Ina) RIP.
The actor who was born May 15th, 1950 in Ede Osun State South West Nigeria; began his career in the 70s and launched the Olofa Ina Theatre Group in 1972.
The group recorded laudable achievements in the theatre arts industry; pioneering the staging of the epical histories of Yoruba warlords which dates back to the 80s and 90s.
Until his death Olofa Ina was the “Sobaloju of Edeland”.
